Religion and Soccer Don’t Mix

I ran across a bizarre story today. The poor fellow wanted to change the channel on the TV, and his wife and children attacked him, evidently banging his head against the wall. End result: death.

Yes, strange, but what’s stranger is the reason the family reacted so violently. Evidently they were watching a “religious” show, and the wife and kids were enraged by the thought of clicking over to the World Cup. A religious show!?! Gotta wonder what kinds of things they’re preaching in South Africa. It doesn’t seem to be “turn the other cheek.” Then again, maybe they preach Christian love, after all, as many of my preacher friends tell me, you can preach and preach and preach, but folks in the pews very often think and act as if they’ve never heard the sermons.
