I already have a subscription. How can I login?

Go to our Sign In page and enter the email address you used when you subscribed.

If your email address isn’t recognized, follow the link to our subscription verification page where our team can confirm your subscription and get your account set up.

How do I change my mailing address?

Follow these steps to update where we send your print magazine:

  1. Go to your Profile page (you’ll need to be signed in).
  2. Scroll down until you see “Your Access Plan” and click the “Manage” button.
  3. Click “Change Delivery Address.”
  4. Update your existing address, or click “New Address” to enter a different one.
  5. Click “Save Changes” when you’re done.

How do I change my email address?

Follow these steps to update the email address on your account:

  1. Go to your Profile page (you’ll need to be signed in).
  2. At the top, under “Your Profile,” find the email field and type in your new email address.
  3. Click “Update” to save the change.

How do I subscribe?

Visit our Subscribe page and follow these steps:

  1. Choose a subscription type: Digital Only (online access) or Full Access (online access + print magazine).
  2. If you already have an account with us, sign in before continuing.
  3. If you have a coupon code, enter it in the coupon field.
  4. Fill in all your details. If you don’t have an account yet, this will create one for you automatically.
  5. Click “Continue to Payment” to enter your payment details and complete your subscription.
  6. You’ll receive a confirmation email once your subscription is active.

How do I update my payment information?

To update your credit card or payment method:

  1. Go to your Profile page (you’ll need to be signed in with an active subscription).
  2. Scroll down to “Your Access Plan” and click “Manage.”
  3. Click “Change Card Details.”
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to enter your new payment information.
  5. Click “Confirm” to save your changes.

How do I renew my subscription?

Most subscriptions renew automatically. If yours does not, you have two options: renew online via a payment link, or renew by mail.

To renew online: We’ll email you a renewal link starting about 30 days before your subscription ends. Simply click the link in that email to complete your renewal online.

To make sure you receive this email and that your magazine keeps arriving at the right address, it’s a good idea to confirm your details are up to date beforehand:

  1. Go to your Profile page (you’ll need to be signed in).
  2. Check that your email address and mailing address are both correct.
  3. Save any changes if needed.

If you don’t see the renewal email, check your spam or junk folder, or make sure the email address on your account is current.

To renew by mail: You’ll also receive a renewal notice by mail with a return slip. Simply fill it out and send it back with a check (please do not mail credit card details) to:

When will my print magazine arrive?

If you’re a new subscriber, your first issue should arrive within 3–6 weeks of subscribing.

For ongoing subscribers, your magazine typically arrives in the first week of each month (for example, the January issue should arrive in early January). Occasionally there may be delays due to mail volume, courier issues, or other factors outside our control.

If your issue hasn’t arrived by the 15th of the month, please request a replacement using our support form.

Can I purchase Portico access together with my First Things?

We do not offer a joint Portico and First Things access plan at this time. To subscribe to Portico, please visit porticoquarterly.com/subscribe/.

Link my subscription to the First Things app

The First Things Digital Access and All Access subscription do not include access to the First Things app.

You can subscribe to the app through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Watch past event recordings

You can watch recordings of many past events by visiting our Events page. You can browse for events and select the video link available for a past event. You can also find many recordings directly by navigating to our Youtube channel.

Supported browsers

firstthings.com is supported on all common browsers. For security and stability, we recommend that you use the desktop, iOS, and Android versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Firefox, or Opera.

Where can I find comments?

The comments section is no longer available. We welcome comments and conversation on our X, Facebook, Youtube, and Instagram.

Subscription options

Student subscription plan

Students can access First Things at a discounted rate. If you have a university email address (ending in “.edu”), visit our student subscribe page. If you do not have a university email, you can still qualify with a valid student ID. Please submit a student subscription request and include a photo of you active student ID.

Subscriptions for institutions or groups

At this time, we do not offer institutional or group subscriptions.

Gift subscriptions

To purchase a gift subscription, please visit to our Gift Subscriptions page.

What do I do if I am subscriber but was given a gift subscription?

If you have an active First Things subscription that you purchased and you were also gifted a First Things subscription, you will not be charged for the entire term that the gift subscription covers.

Edit my profile

To edit your profile, please go to your Profile page and change your desired information in the fields under “Your Profile.” When you are finished, select “Save Profile Changes.”

Renew my gift subscription

To find out whether your gift subscription will renew automatically, look for the subscription in your profile under “purchases”. If your purchase has status “active” and you have a valid credit card payment method, then it will automatically renew.

If you need to manually renew your gift subscription, you have two options: renew online via a payment link, or renew by mail.

To renew online: We’ll email you a renewal link starting about 30 days before your subscription ends. Simply click the link in that email to complete your renewal online.

Cancel my subscription plan

To cancel:

  1. Go to your Profile page and sign in.
  2. Scroll down to “Purchases” and click “Manage,” then “Cancel Plan.”
  3. Select a reason for cancelling and confirm.

You’ll keep access to First Things until the end of your current billing period. If you’d like to cancel immediately, please contact our support team.

Inquire about a credit card charge

To inquire about an charge you don’t recognize in your bank or credit card statement, please visit your Profile and review transactions in “purchases” under ”Manage” > “View Transactions”.

Manage my auto-renew preferences

Most subscriptions are set to renew automatically at the end of each billing period.

How do I know if my subscription will auto-renew? Go to your Profile page and scroll down to “Purchases. Your subscription will auto-renew if it shows as. Active” and has a credit card on file.

How do I set up auto-renewal? Auto-renewal is enabled automatically when you subscribe or renew online with a credit card. If you renewed by check, auto-renewal is not available — you’ll need to renew manually each period.

How do I stop auto-renewal? We don’t offer a way to disable auto-renewal without cancelling. If you’d like to stop being charged automatically, please follow the steps to cancel your subscription — you’ll keep access until the end of your current billing period, and we’ll remind you to renew manually before it expires.

Can I order a single issue of the current magazine or from the magazine archive?

Yes, you can order back issues from our store.
