A Gleeful Slaughter of the Innocents

To Bishop Andrew Dietsche, Episcopal Diocese of New York:

As an Episcopalian in New York City, I regularly receive emails from you expressing concern and even outrage about a wide variety of issues. You have denounced racism and sexism, you have called for civility and sensitivity in our national conversation, and you were appalled by the separation of children from their families at the border. But I am still waiting to hear where you stand on infanticide.

As I am sure you are aware, last week the governor of Virginia proposed an abortion bill which would legalize abortion up to and after birth. It’s all on video. I am also wondering what you thought when you saw the bloodthirsty New York legislature stand and cheer as Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill permitting abortion up until the very minute of birth. (We join North Korea and China in this dubious distinction.) The old mantra of “safe, legal, and rare” has become #Shoutyourabortion. Where, bishop, is your epistle expressing moral outrage at this gleeful slaughter of the innocents? As the Epiphany season draws to a close, one is forced to conclude that the “woke” Episcopal Church of 2019 stands firmly with Team Herod.

Faithfully,
