More Rubbish

Regarding the recent Vatican document on the financial crisis,  David Gibson writes:

“Conservative Catholics continue to trash the Vatican’s new document calling for global financial regulation: “Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish,” says George Weigel.

But Weigel’s  post  calls the liberal Catholic  reaction  to the document rubbish, not the document itself:

“Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish,” says voice therapist Lionel Logue to King George VI as the brassy Australian walks the about-to-be-crowned king through a particularly orotund part of the coronation ceremony in  The King’s Speech . Logue’s comment nicely sums up the media and Catholic Left commentary on a “Note” released today by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, “Towards Reforming the International Financial and Monetary System in the Context of Global Public Authority.” [Bold mine -MS]

I hope that sets the record straight.

Update:  David Gibson has  updated  his post’s characterization of the rubbish remark. He’s still not right to characterize the response of the right as “trashing” the statement, but credit where it’s due!
