A leader of the Oxford Movement, a catholic reform movement in the Anglican Church, Newman later converted to Catholicism and founded the Birmingham Oratory. He is seen by most Anglican converts to Catholicism as a spiritual forebear, and his writings, especially his Apologia Pro Vita Sua , have helped bring many across the Tiber.
