Welcome to the New First Things

Dear Readers,

Welcome to the new First Things website!

We still have the same great content, including new material every day. But our look has changed, and we’ve added new functions.

On the old website, our daily articles were called “On the Square.” Now they’re called “Web Exclusives.” Our menu of blogs has changed, as well. We’ve decided to consolidate and simplify our blog offerings, concentrating on First Thoughts.

We couldn’t resist a few bells and whistles. The new site provides a menu of our most popular pieces as well as those most commented upon. Now you can keep up with what others are keeping up with.

We put most of the material from First Things magazine behind a pay wall. That’s in order to maintain revenue to keep us going. Now readers can purchase single articles for $1.99. Of course the option of an annual subscription and full access—a very good option, I might add—remains. Subscribe now!

If you read us on your mobile phone or other e-reader, you’ll find that our new website automatically scales to your device. I’m excited about this new feature because, although mostly low-tech, I enjoy reading First Thoughts on my phone. This may seem strange to the uninitiated but is actually a very popular—and convenient—option.

Our goal has been to bring the website up to the high standards of the print magazine: attractive, readable, and a pleasure to hold in your virtual hands. Thanks to the good work of Andrew Beck and the programming moxie of Level2, all under the direction of our web consultant Austin Stone, I think we’ve achieved just that.

Thanks for being part of the First Things community.

Yours,

R. R. Reno,
Editor
