Tough Times for Beauty Pageant Winners

Between the gay thought police and California and the Iranian mullahs, what’s a girl to do?

Freelance journalist Roxana Saberi , Miss North Dakota for 1997, was convicted of espionage and sentenced to eight years in prison just before the public savaging of today’s Miss California, Carrie Prejean, by gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton . Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad assured a Columbia University audience last year that there were no gays in Iran,  so we can exclude the conjecture that Ms. Saberi was imprisoned by the Iranians for opposing gay marriage. Since Iran appears to be deprived of gay people, perhaps President Obama could demonstrate America’s good faith by shipping Mr. Hilton to Iran, where he certainly could make himself useful advising the Iranians on swimsuit competitions.
