Animal rights radicals who engage in ALF and SHAC terrorism presume to put on the mantle Martin Luther King and Gandhi, claiming that their threats, bombings, vandalism, identity theft, harassment, and intimidation is right out of the civil disobedience playbook. And PETA refuses to condemn, claiming that these actions are akin to the Underground Railroad.
So would Gandhi and King have condoned falsely accusing a researcher of being a pedophile to obtain the great goal? That’s what happened in the UK. From the story:
A father of three was left living in fear after animal rights extremists sent his neighbours letters falsely branding him a paedophile, a court heard today. Vincent Howard, 40, also had a hoax bomb delivered to his family home as part of a sustained campaign of intimidation by the activists, it was claimed. The operations director of a distribution company was so hard hit by the incidents.
He was targeted because some of his firm’s clients had dealings with animal testing company Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS), Winchester Crown Court was told. It was part of a campaign by eight members of Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (Shac) to try to force companies to cut any links with Cambridge based HLS.
Mr Howard told the court how in March 2005 his neighbours received letters with his name and full postal address, and claiming that he was a convicted paedophile.
Then there was the threat to give him AIDS.
