First, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) compared eating meat to the worst crimes of the Holocaust. Then, PETA alpha wolf Ingrid Newkirk, issued her non apology “apology.” Now, PETA has a new propaganda campaign explicitly creating a moral equivalence between the human use of animals and the evil of American slavery.
When the KKK equated African-Americans to animals, it was rightly called racist. This new propaganda carries the same odious message, just from the other way around. This is offensive in the extreme and I hope that civil rights leaders will condemn PETA as it so richly, and so often, deserves.
