Santorum Compares Romney to McCain and Dole

It’s pretty obvious why. The people, like me, who believed that THE TEA PARTY energy would make this time different were probably wrong. THE TEA PARTY will make no real difference at all.

But most interesting is a comment in the link’s thread. Romney is like Dole in exactly this way: He’d be a respectable, placeholder candidate who won’t do any damage to Republicans down the ticket.

We know we won’t lose by much or in a ridiculously incompetent way with Mutt.

In that respect, Romney is not like McCain.

The polls show the Republicans with a pretty impressive lead now in the generic Congressional vote and poised to take over the Senate. We wouldn’t want to the presidential candidate to screw that up. And maybe either Gingrich or Santorum would.

On the other hand: This presidential election is the last opportunity to repeal ObamaCare.

And: My real point is that this is the lamest and most needlessly defeatist argument for a candidate ever.
