The government filed its appeal of Judge Vinson’s ruling declaring Obamacare unconstitutional today. The govt. is also supposed to ask for an expedited hearing. We’ll see if that happens. In any event, this probably means the stay will remain in effect allowing the law to continue to be implemented. And it keeps the administration on the right side of the rule of law—on this matter.
I still believe the best thing for the country is to have the appeal go directly to the U.S. Supreme Court for ruling sometime next fall. The sooner the constitutionality issue is resolved, the better for us all.
Update: The government has asked for an expedited review, as ordered by Judge Vinson. I admit to being mildly surprised.
