I warned and I warned, here at SHS, in speeches, on the radio: Obamacare would spawn 100,000 pages of regulations. That’s because we no longer pass laws that govern, we pass laws that serve as skeletons for the bureaucrats to create the rules that actually exert the details of control. We are in the midst of establishing a bureaucratic oligopoly—and Obamacare is the worst, as in the Independent Payment Advisory Board.
Well, here’s some proof of what I warned against. Six pages of Obamacare have equaled 429 pages of regulations! From the story:
Giving proof to Main Street’s worries that President Obama’s healthcare reform will lead to thousands of new and costly regulations, the Department of Health and Human Services has taken one small section of the law and written enough new rules to every page of Obama’s campaign book, The Audacity of Hope—plus another 45 pages. [Check out a roundup of political cartoons on healthcare.] Section 3022 of the law, which is about the Medicare shared savings program, take up just six pages in the 907-page Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. But HHS has turned that into 429 pages of new regulations and that’s too much, says Republican Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, a practicing doctor.
Not only is the law almost incomprehensible, with books and books and books of regulations, only the army of Obamacare bureaucrats will know what is going on. And that will rob our economy of what little vitality it has left. What a debacle.
Repeal. Replace. Reform. Defund.
