Immortal Florence

Dante and Michelangelo
You were here;
Brunelleschi, Donatello,
Savonarola, the Medici,
Machiavelli, Ghiberti,
Leonardo da Vinci—
All left their mark;
But none is so vividly present
As the Florentine dogs
As I walk these ancient streets.
Looking steadily down.
