Every year, FIRST THINGS and the Institute on Religion & Public Life sponsor the Erasmus Lecture, a talk in New York City about¯well, yes¯the first things in religion and public life. Tickets are still available for this year’s event, the nineteenth annual lecture in the series, on Monday, October 17, 2005. The lecturer is Dr. Timothy George, dean of Beeson Divinity School and a major figure in Evangelical and Catholic dialogue. For tickets, please email ft@firstthings.com . The event will be held at 6:00 p.m., October 17, at the Union League Club, which is at 38 East 37th Street. (Business attire¯meaning jacket and tie for men and something equivalent for women¯is required by the snooty, er, I mean, stalwart guardians of tradition at the Union League Club.)
