Election Links 2010

A few articles on the election and what it means that readers might not have seen:

• Pro-Life Democrats Ousted as Election Centers on the Economy. “Three of the four Democrats most heavily targeted by SBAL lost their seats, including Reps. Steve Driehaus (Ohio) and Kathy Dahlkemper (Penn.). Overall, 10 of 17 pro-life Democrats who voted for the healthcare bill were defeated on Tuesday, according to SBAL [the Susan B. Anthony List].”
• SBA List Defeats 15 of 20 “Votes Have Consequences” Targets . “Our project started more than a year ago when we targeted these districts to strengthen pro-life Democrats’ resolve to vote against abortion funding in health care reform. When the so-called ‘pro-life’ Democrats caved, our mission had to change.”
• Colorado Voters Defeat Personhood Amendment . “70% of the voters cast their ballots against the amendment . . . [which] would have applied state constitutional protections for inalienable rights, equality of justice and due process of law ‘to every human being from the beginning of the biological development of that human being’.”
• Oklahoma Voters Approve Ban On Courts Using Shariah Law . “70% of voters cast ballots in favor of the measure . . . [which barred] state courts from considering or using international law or Shariah law when deciding cases.” Here is the same story covered by the lefty Salon.com , which thinks the defeat a great thing.
• Voters Agree With Bishops on Key Issues . “In states where the Catholic bishops took a strong stand on a ballot measure, however, voters seemed to generally follow the bishops’ advice.”

There were fewer of these that I expected, judging from my survey of websites and the e-mails I get, though I didn’t spend a great amount of time searching. I’d be grateful if you would share any good ones in the comments section.
