British Medical Assoc. Docs Refuse Assisted Suicide Neutrality

For a second time, the leaders of the British Medical Association wanted to go neutral on assisted suicide, only to be overturned by the rank and file. From the Independent story:

Doctors today rejected calls to take a neutral stance on assisted suicide. Medics at the British Medical Association’s (BMA) annual conference in Bournemouth reiterated their opposition to assisted dying, with one delegate likening it to murder. Members of the BMA voted down proposals for the organisation to take a neutral stance

The whole notion of “studied neutrality” is ridiculous. If doctors are not to have an opinion about turning suicide into a medical treatment, who is. If doctors shouldn’t lead toward proper Hippocratic medical ethics, who will?  I am so glad that the doctors of the BMA have far more wisdom than their so-called leaders.
