Ah, here we go: A group called “Catholics In Alliance” apparently has a video out that features pictures of prominent Catholics from across a wide political spectrum. Among them is Richard John Neuhaus.
No permission was given for the use of Fr. Neuhaus’ image, and, in truth, Catholics in Alliance seems to be little more than a front group for Obama’s presidential campaign. You know the kind of thing: Let’s get beyond left/right distinctions by all becoming leftists who don’t think abortion should motivate anyone’s vote in this election.
Can we state the obvious here? Faith does transcend politics, but you don’t stop doing politics merely by the assertion that you’ve transcended politics. Made in a political setting, that’s just politics—of a particularly sneaky and deceitful kind.
