The Source of our Gratitude

On behalf of the board, editors, and staff of First Things:

Thank you to our more than three thousand charitable supporters for making our work—this magazine, our website, our podcasts, and our educational programs—possible. Your faithful support is a constant encouragement, a token of solidarity, and the fruit of a vibrant community. On November 29, thousands of nonprofit organizations will launch one-day “Giving Tuesday” fundraising campaigns. While we do not begrudge those undertaking these efforts, we at First Things have decided to declare November 29 “Gratitude Tuesday”: a day to thank our donors for their generous support and a fitting prelude to the year-end giving season.

The fount from which our gratitude springs lies deeper than material provisions, however, as Father Hans Boersma beautifully explains. May we live each day full of gratitude for the myriad blessings God has bestowed on us. Happy Gratitude Tuesday from First Things.
