All I Want for Christmas …

No, silly, not world peace!  Books!

Here are the recommendations from our friends at the Claremont Institute .

In no particular order, my own suggestions (some of which overlap those of the folks at Claremont):

For those who want to know how we got to where we are in the philosophical debate over the family, and where to go from here, this book is indispensable.

Solid arguments about evangelical politics.

While we’re on the subject of evangelical politics.

The last one about evangelicals and politics, I promise.

I once described Peter Lawler as one of our greatest living neo-Thomists.  That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Amazon says that this book is frequently bought together with the aforementioned Lawler tome, perhaps because Lawler and Mahoney are frequently seen together.  Another smart guy writing about the philosophical dimensions of contemporary political life.

After the Catholics, a Calvinist fellow traveler.

More McWilliams, for those who can’t get enough of one of our greatest home-grown political thinkers.

Perhaps the other bloggers here can come up with their own lists.  I’m always looking for more books to add to the pile on my nightstand and more items to load onto my Kindle.
