Two Quotes from C. S. Lewis on Homosexuality

Over at Spiritual Friendship, I have posted two excerpts from C. S. Lewis on how Christians should respond to homosexuality. Rather than repost both in their entirety here, here are links:

C. S. Lewis on Homosexuality & Disgust  In the first excerpt, taken from  Surprised by Joy , Lewis describes his reticence to talk about sins he hasn’t struggled with himself, and then comments on the way that disgust with homosexuality often proceeds from motives that are neither Christian nor ethical.

C. S. Lewis to Sheldon Vanauken on Homosexuality  The second excerpt is taken from a letter from C. S. Lewis to Sheldon Vanauken, which Vanauken published in  A Severe Mercy . In addition to reiterating the view that homosexual acts are sinful, Lewis asks what the “positive life” of homosexual persons might be, and insists that “every disability conceals a vocation, if only we can find it, which will ‘turn the necessity to glorious gain.’”
