We are now at the happy moment in politics where voters speak. Pundits must wait for the rest of America to vote and only then can they spin, massage, slice, dice and make Julienne fries of the results.
Here is my prediction:
If the Democrats win in New Jersey and lose in Virginia, it will be seen as a “mixed message” from voters. The popularity of President Obama will have saved Corzine and pressure will be applied to pass health care.
If the Democrats lose in New Jersey and lose in Virginia, all politics will once again be local. Corzine was always a flawed candidate and Deeds was a fool. The result will indicate that President Obama badly needs to pass health care reform in order to restore people’s faith in the American dream.
Any Republican wins will be the result of anger and any Democrat wins will the results of “hope.”
Finally, in a move that contradicts the public claims back stairs whispers from the White House will blame White House politico X for the “screw up.” “X badly coordinated our message,” anonymous aides told the Post. “Really X must go.”
As oft happened in Russia when things were going badly, some minister will take the heat to let President Obama avoid the odium.
