Settling In

Welcome to the blog formerly known as Leithart.com.

Readers of the earlier incarnation of my blog will, I trust, find the new site comfortably familiar. The contents will be consistent with what I have written over the years. Over to your right you’ll find a drop-down list of archives and a search box so you can relive old posts.

For anyone new to this site, let me explain what I do here. Since 2003, Leithart.com has been my public notebook. I post excerpts from reading and research, book notes and reviews, fragmentary or erratic speculations on a variety of topics, sometimes a polished essay. Occasionally I post an essay by someone else or a response to something I’ve written.

I teach theology at New St. Andrews College, Moscow, Idaho, and serve on the pastoral staff at Trinity Reformed Church in Moscow. Most of my blog posts emerge from my day work. As a pastor and teacher, I teach a lot on the Bible. Currently I am preaching on Isaiah and teaching on the Song of Songs and Revelation, and many of my posts are related to those studies. I am always in various stages of writing several books, and post research notes on those projects. Because I’m easily distracted, I also post on whatever flits past my field of vision.

Recently I became President of the Trinity Institute for Biblical, Liturgical, and Cultural Studies, a study and pastoral training center that will officially open its doors in the autumn of 2013. Until we have our own web site set up, I will be using this site for shamelessly self-serving promotion of the Institute. You are forewarned.

I am grateful to Matt Schmitz, Joe Carter, David Mills, and Rusty Reno for inviting me over and getting me set up in my new place. Thanks too to my blog managers, Ben and Emeth Casbon, for their selfless service in managing Leithart.com.
