On Some Other Squares Today

Hello, good ROFTers! We have no new On the Square posts for you today, but there’s a lot of new content over at our other blogs from this weekend and today, so here’s a roundup of things you may have missed.

Over at Postmodern Conservative , Peter Lawler is a skunk , while James Cesar makes a controversial case for intervention in Syria . Carl Scott continues compiling his songbook .

(And from last week: Lawler wonders : “is BEING equal to TIME or HISTORY or HUMAN FREEDOM or THE SINGULAR CAPACITY OF HUMAN BEINGS FOR NEGATIVITY”? Well, that is a very GOOD QUESTION.)

Peter Leithart is also thinking about Syria , or at least about Syrian Christians. He considers the apostle Paul, both in his relationship to the synagogue and as a heretic . Leithart’s also thinking about violence , which I suppose makes sense. (Damascus, Paul, Syria, violence, and so forth . . . .)

Maureen Mullarkey returns today with a gorgeous post on the “Idolatry of Devout Ideas,” as she considers von Balthasar and his promotion of Adrienne von Speyr (she’s not a fan).

And last but not least, Dr. Boli is here to warn you about temperance meetings , make additions to your home , promote the work of a friend , and give you a rundown of some new television shows .
