Obamacare Repeal: House of Representatives Temporarily Defunds

The House of Representatives has voted to defund the Affordable Care Act as part of a bill to temporarily keep the government functioning.  From the story:

The House voted to defund President Obama’s health care overhaul on Friday during a sustained burst of floor activity on amendments to a temporary spending bill that would keep the government lights on but impose deep cuts on domestic programs.

This will not fly in the Senate.  And the president will surely veto any bill that defunds Obamacare.  So the question becomes, will the Senate Dems be wiling to see the government shut down over Obamacare?  I think yes.  Will the Republicans in the House be willing to shut down the government over Obamacare?  Unless the polls clearly support them, I think no. Let’s hope the polls clearly support them.

In any event, the Republicans will continue to defund and dismantle specific parts of the law.  Some of that might get through.

I have never seen the country as divided as it is now since Vietnam.  Obamacare is part of the cause.  It was passed in a corrupt process over the objections of the American people.  If we are not to grind to a complete halt, substantial changes must be made.   There is still a common way forward if the president and Democrats are willing to change course.
