For those in or near New York City, I commend this year’s New York Encounter, beginning on Friday evening, January 17th with a talk and a concert and ending on Sunday evening with a concert. I went to most of last year’s Encounter, as did a couple of our junior fellows, and was both taught and moved by the talks.
Among the speakers this year are Jesuit priest Fr. Samir Khalil Samir of the University of Saint Joseph in Beirut; Boston’s Sean Cardinal O’Malley; Fr. Peter Cameron, editor of Magnificat; David Schindler of the John Paul Institute; Tony Hendra, author of Father Joe; and Fr. Lorenzo Albacete, a writer and leader of Communion & Liberation in America. The others are less known to American readers but judging from my experience last year, no less good.
As I say, much commended. See the Encounter website for details.
