Metropolitan Metaphysics

Speaking of spirituality, I was browsing in a popular bookstore in SoHo this weekend and was excited to see a section titled “Metaphysics.” Imagine my disappointment when the shelf turned out to be filled—not with Plato, Aristotle, or Aquinas—but with Tarot cards and astrology. Something tells me that the latest Vanity Fair would be filed under Aesthetics. And Lady’s Home Journal? Microeconomics.
