Mike Wallace took another giant step outside of objective journalism—assuming it still exists anymore—to come to his pal Kevorkian’s defense with letter to the editor in the New York Times. Kevorkian can’t “evangelize,” (Wallace’s term) for euthanasia per the terms of his parole, so I guess Wallace intends to do it for him.
Disgraceful. Wallace is certainly free to adore Kevorkian. He is free to promote euthanasia legalization. But he should recuse himself from all journalistic reportage on the Kevorkian story in specific, and on euthanasia/assisted suicide in general. But don’t hold your breath.
