Joshua Cave Art Exhibit

Her Loves

This evening, First Things premieres its series of art exhibits with Life Drawing by Joshua Cave . Cave, a versatile artist working as a painter, sculptor, installation artist, and writer in New York City, received his BFA from Westmont College, Santa Barbara, CA in 2008. Working with diverse forms of media, the subject matter of his pieces have also ranged from abstracted and expressive drawings and paintings to intimate portraits of people and personal objects.

Allison Peller, an independent art curator working in New York City, writes the following about tonight’s exhibit:

Life Drawing includes five paintings by artist Joshua Cave that feature representational elements such as a human figure, a dog, and a mountain range, set in indistinguishable backgrounds. As the exhibition’s title suggests, the imagery is recognizable from daily life, but whether the title is alluding to the formal genre of still-life drawings and paintings, or attempting to capture moments of life rather than specific artifacts is where the debate begins.

The exhibit opens with a cheese and wine reception at 6:00 p.m. For more information, visit our events page here .
