If you’ve ever dreamed of working at F IRST T HINGS (a common dream among the young, I’m told, although most people have the sense to outgrow it before it injures them), then this is your chance:

F IRST T HINGS is accepting applications for the position of Managing Editor.

This is a full-time job, in our New York offices, with the pay and benefits usual for similarly situated journals and magazines. The position offers the opportunity to participate in the magazine’s work, the theological and political discussions the magazine sponsors, and the religious, cultural, and intellectual events that cluster around F IRST T HINGS in New York City.

The Managing Editor’s primary tasks involve producing the monthly issues of the magazine and maintaining the smooth flow of work in the office. This is a job for a highly organized person, attentive to detail and skilled with computers. Experience in proofreading and copyediting is required, and competence in the Quark layout program and a graphics program like PhotoShop is highly desirable.
