Nashville, Tennessee: home to the Southern Baptist Publishing House, the United Methodist Upper Room devotional guides, and many enormous churches. And what religious landmark do tourists want to visit?
Several years ago, by the way, the children and I read an historical novel on Nashville during Reconstruction and the building of the Parthenon: Breakfast at the Hermitage, by Alfred Leland Crabb. It was a decent read-aloud, as I recall, though it features a romantic story in which the lovers coo a lot about Ionic columns, which my listening audience found hard to take.
We were far more excited by Lodging at the Saint Cloud: A Tale of Occupied Nashville, involving spies, intrigue, daring escapes and more in a tense Civil War setting.
Not religious, but good historical fun.
