Our friends across the pond may be interested in attending a debate next month examining the legacy of Pope Pius XII. Intelligence Squared will host the debate on November 14 at the Royal Institution in London, where participants will take up the motion “Hitler’s Pope: Pius XII did too little to save the Jews from the Holocaust.”
Speaking for the motion are historian John Julius Norwich and human rights lawyer Geoffrey Robertson, while speaking against the motion are friends of First Things William Doino Jr. and law professor Ronald Rychlak. (Doino and Rychlak have written on this topic together before, and Doino is a regular On the Square columnist .)
