And They Said Vaudeville Was Dead

Haven’t we seen this movie? You remember, that cheesy bit of reality TV directed by James Cameron about the supposed tomb of Jesus? Wasn’t that already voted off the island or dismissed with a sniff like a karaoke barfly on American Idol ?

But it’s back—yes, the Director’s Cut has just been released, with promises of bonus features and alternate endings !

I’m sorry that James Charlesworth is giving this more play than it deserves. But January is usually the month when studios release their weakest material.

I’m sure there are many among the mentally debilitated who believe history will one day record that it was James Cameron who finally debunked Christianity after 2,000 years—just as I’m sure that a third-rate comic whose only previous film credit is as a pizza-delivery boy will finally vanquish the religious impulse of several billion earth dwellers with his new crockumentary . (Yes, yes, I know: Bill Maher was also in Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death , but I felt he was just phoning that performance in, frankly . . . )
