In the Midst of Life

ph-durrant01-200

Stonecutter Karin Sprague revives the nearly-lost art of the tombstone. Though she encourages clients to explore “less-traditional” images which “offer more personal meaning,” for my money it’s her interpretations of traditional gravestone iconography — the tree of life, the weeping willow, trumpeting angels heralding the Resurrection — which are beautiful, enduring, and likely to lend themselves to intelligible meaning for generations to come.
