The Name ‘Vanidy’ Suits This Story Almost Too Perfectly

A correction that the Harvard Crimson must be proud of:

An earlier version of this article used the pronoun “she” to refer to Vanidy “Van” Bailey, the newly appointed director of bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender, and queer student life. In fact, Bailey prefers not to be referred to by any gendered pronoun.

I agree with Vanidy “Van” Bailey. In fact, I’d go a step farther and say that Vanidy “Van” Bailey should never be referred to by a pronoun of any kind. Considering that the name “Vanidy” suggests simultaneously narcissism and an inability to write properly, constant repetition of “Vanidy ‘Van’ Bailey” is exactly what Vanidy “Van” Bailey deserves.
