A correction that the Harvard Crimson must be proud of:
An earlier version of this article used the pronoun “she” to refer to Vanidy “Van” Bailey, the newly appointed director of bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender, and queer student life. In fact, Bailey prefers not to be referred to by any gendered pronoun.I agree with Vanidy “Van” Bailey. In fact, I’d go a step farther and say that Vanidy “Van” Bailey should never be referred to by a pronoun of any kind. Considering that the name “Vanidy” suggests simultaneously narcissism and an inability to write properly, constant repetition of “Vanidy ‘Van’ Bailey” is exactly what Vanidy “Van” Bailey deserves.
You have a decision to make: double or nothing.
For this week only, a generous supporter has offered to fully match all new and increased donations to First Things up to $60,000.
In other words, your gift of $50 unlocks $100 for First Things, your gift of $100 unlocks $200, and so on, up to a total of $120,000. But if you don’t give, nothing.
So what will it be, dear reader: double, or nothing?
Make your year-end gift go twice as far for First Things by giving now.
