In Lutherans in Search of a Church , today’s “On the Square” article, Lutheran theologian Robert Benne describes the current state of mainline Lutheranism and the various conservative or traditional or orthodox (however you’d like to put it) responses.
I’d be grateful if readers from other traditions that face similar struggles which means just about any tradition you can think of would respond in the comment boxes (of the article, not here). This could be a very helpful discussion for those who are involved in what I’ve sometimes called “the orthodox resistance,” to hear from others in other traditions who are as well.
And those of you who haven’t looked at Archbishop Charles Chaput’s Suing the Church since yesterday may want to go back and read the comments, which keep coming in. Good points are being made on all sides, though some are a little, um, heated.
