I now know the time of my debate with animal rights movement leader Gary Francione, who promotes “abolition” and veganism, toward the end of eventually prohibiting all animal domesticaion—including dogs. He believes that sentience gives one the “right” not to be property.
Our debate on the Medved Show is in the second hour—or 1-2 PM Pacific Time, for those who get the show live. Here’s a live link. The show is syndicated and thus might be broadcast at a different time in your locale.
Tune in. Gary and I interact quite frequently, so it won’t be a shout fest.
Update: The link above is a bad stream. If you are having trouble, try this one.
You have a decision to make: double or nothing.
For this week only, a generous supporter has offered to fully match all new and increased donations to First Things up to $60,000.
In other words, your gift of $50 unlocks $100 for First Things, your gift of $100 unlocks $200, and so on, up to a total of $120,000. But if you don’t give, nothing.
So what will it be, dear reader: double, or nothing?
Make your year-end gift go twice as far for First Things by giving now.
