And this makes me want to cry.

So does the commentary:

It’s good to know that churches don’t have to remain houses of ignorance.

Gives one hope for the day when all such places could be put to good use.

Well, I think it’s time for a cup of tea and a nice, light, entertaining read like, oh, I don’t know . . . what have we here on the desk of ignorance today?

Ah. Think I’ll drown my despair in this. Just, you know, one of any number of stupid pieces of backwardness generated by a culture of stifled intellects over a 2,000-year period of unfortunate darkness.

And it’s probably for sale somewhere in that bookstore, ironically.

Dear Reader,

You have a decision to make: double or nothing.

For this week only, a generous supporter has offered to fully match all new and increased donations to First Things up to $60,000.

In other words, your gift of $50 unlocks $100 for First Things, your gift of $100 unlocks $200, and so on, up to a total of $120,000. But if you don’t give, nothing.

So what will it be, dear reader: double, or nothing?

Make your year-end gift go twice as far for First Things by giving now.
