Slate provides some ideas here for dinner-table disagreements on politics. As for religion, First Things has dished up some ideas sure to spark lively discussion. How about the question of whether Islam is compatible with the separation of church and state? Or whether East and West , the two lungs of the Church, can ever be reconciled? Conversation slow?
