Yes, this similarity between the rhetoric surrounding pro-choice for abortion and for slavery is quite revealing. 19th century southern states wanted the North to have the free choice as well...

The similarity also was why Richard John Neuhaus initially believed he would get support from his fellow civil rights activists regarding the emerging issue of abortion. One by one, though, they caved. The Rev. Jesse Jackson was originally pro-life...

I think I may have made this comment awhile back at 'Thinking Christian', and just re-reading the article again brought up two more thoughts: the push for rights of 'groups' (or classes). People in a group could be considered faceless. This and my comment above really describe slavery. Also reading Welsley Smith's articles on vegans previous to this reminded me of the old vegan saying,'I won't eat anything with a face'...but perhaps not so squeamish about abortion until it's up close and personal through sonograms, video, etc. Seeing the face of those you are devouring.

It could be said that the Jews had no "persona" under National Socialism in Germany. Could it also be said that the Christian community in the United States today is being marginalized into "non-persona" by the political lefist-elite and the not-so-mainstream media.

I agree, but my thoughts immediately turned to the individual when ruled by regulations (not laws) and a bureaucrat (not legislature). For instance, you didn't fill out the paperwork correctly (didn't necessarily not follow the rule- in fact nobody can actually figure out what the rules actually are as they cover everything), they confiscate your materials, you have no charges against you, no day in court..you are faceless. It is here, now, and getting worse every day. Of course HGWells described it the best.
