JMR: "Of all the loves, Packer-love must be the least important, but it is love after all."

I don't know if it "must be" the least important love, but it certainly is a love.

I too was rooting for the Packers, and I too was very glad that they won. But I give a lot of credit to Ben Roethlisberger for leading the Steelers back and almost winning the game. If it wasn't for the Steelers' turnovers, it could very well have been a different result.

My Family's Credo:

Don't mess with:

1. The Holy Trinity
2. The United States Marine Corps
3. The Pittsburgh Steelers.

...even if the Steelers do lose an occasional Super Bowl, now and then.

Andy,

Why can't a person love a team? Can one love a pet? Can one love a place?

As a sports fan, I hesitate to call lending one's emotional support to a team love. Passion is not the same as willing the good for another. Admiration doesn't equal service.

As a born-cheesehead, as is my sister Sarah Flashing, our commitment is to furthering the interests of Wisconsin. (At least I hope that is her interest.) That said ...
I am disturbed about the reporting of TV viewership in what are reported to be the home cities of the two Super bowl teams. Someone got the bright idea that Milwaukee is the home of the Pack. Sorry to disappoint. But that's the intelligence of today's media.

With all the mentions of things like NFL greed, I'm surprised that you didn't explicitly mention the one thing that really sets the Packers apart from the league: They are a non-profit organization that is owned by their own fans (or 112,000 of them, at least).
