One of my favorite musical artists is Andrew Peterson. Andrew is one of those outstanding—if not a bit rare—Christian musicians who provides in his work a combination of musical excellence, lyrical thoughtfulness and perceptiveness, and a strong appeal to the moral imagination.

Andrew’s next album, Counting Stars, releases on July 27, which means—as he said today—”the promotional machine has ignited and is rolling down the Please-Buy-My-Record Highway.” I’m confident that the album is well worth promoting, and purchasing.

Justin Taylor posted recently one of the songs from the forthcoming Counting Stars, a song titled “The Reckoning.”

Last summer I had the privilege of interviewing Andrew on a host of topics, ranging from the songwriting process to Jesus’ resurrection.

Are there any other Christian artists out there who Evangel readers ought to be made aware of?

I’m pretty sure Trace Bundy is a Christian. His stuff sounds pretty amazing… but when you watch him play, then you realize just how awesome he is.

These guys have been around for a while, but if you like alternative rock, The Choir and The Violet Burning are pretty great.

Also, if you’ve never heard Iona, you owe it to yourself. Incredible vocalist and superb extended-jam Gaelic musicians.

In fact, I inspired myself; just went on YouTube and listened to Iona performing “Chi-Rho” live in Holland.

      Listen to it!
