The pace quickens as the Brownies try to save a radical school and its lonely headmistress from Christmas hatred and bring liberty instead of mere equality . . .
Colleen, the Baptist student trapped at the Community School, finally meets the Brownies and hears their plans to save Laura, the head of the school. They bring a man from the past to now . . . with odd results.
The Brownies introduce their hero and romantic lead, Robert Falkirk. This man from the past tries to get used to the present.
Laura, the head of the Community School, meets Robert Falkirk. With the rest of the staff of the Community School, she finds Robert a bit much. The Brownies convince Robert to attempt to save Laura from Sarah (the schools donor) and Ron (the modern man who admires her).
