Chick Tracts! I remember those. The adults at my church were always tossing those things around like Pokemon cards. There’s no way to describe them except with a newly invented word: Gosploitation.

Excellent post. I was once fascinated by Chick tracts (I think I still have some in my desk!), but have long since left such things. I remember, as a kid, I received a Chick tract in something (I can’t remember if it was on Halloween or some other time), but I don’t remember giving it much thought. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit convicted me of sin and wrought redemption in my soul many years later–no thanks to Chick and co.!

Just to go on the record about this, one of the MASSIVE benefits of growing up Catholic was that I didn’t see my first Chick tract until I was in college. It transforms the whole spectacle to a comedy.
