I’ve received a ton of emails lately from people wanting me to tell them more about what it’s like being a junior fellow at First Things . That’s a pretty tall order, so I’ve decided to recruit some junior fellows of the past to help me out. Amanda Shaw has written a nice little quiz to quickly sort out the wheat from the chaff. Nathaniel Peters and Mary Angelita Ruiz both did a fine job summarizing the day to day work inside and outside the office. And Ryan Anderson has pointed out the wonderful ways your writing and journalism skills can improve after spending time here at First Things .
If the testimonies of these four bright and beautiful people still haven’t convinced you to apply, let me—although less bright and beautiful—reiterate: Being a junior fellow here at First Things has been a true gift. Not only have I improved my writing, gotten published, and read fascinating articles and books, I have also started friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime.
